Maple Exposed Aggregate Driveway Leveling

Concrete Driveway Leveling in Maple, ON: Lifting Settled Exposed Aggregate

A homeowner in Maple, Ontario was dealing with a sunken exposed aggregate driveway and a deep dip right at the garage entrance. Canadian Concrete Leveling used polyurethane injection to lift the settled slabs, then sealed the cracks and joints to help keep moisture out through Ontario’s freeze-thaw cycles.

The exposed aggregate driveway in Maple, where settled slabs had sunk away from the asphalt centre and the garage entrance.

The Challenge

Settling soil beneath this driveway caused the exposed aggregate concrete to sink significantly, breaking the clean lines of the entryway and leaving a deep, unsightly dip right at the garage entrance. Beyond creating an uneven bump for vehicles driving into the garage, the sunken concrete sections changed the slope of the surface. This allowed rain and meltwater to channel directly toward the garage threshold and pooling areas, threatening to erode the underlying base material even further if left untreated.

Over time, natural soil settlement and voids beneath the surface caused these aggregate driveway slabs to sink away from both the asphalt center and the outer decorative borders. The most severe drop occurred right along the garage threshold, creating a deep dip that made driving into the garage feel bumpy and awkward. The shifting concrete also opened up gaps along the joints, leaving the entire entryway vulnerable to further movement if the subgrade wasn’t stabilized and properly addressed.

The Solution

Our team used polyurethane injection for concrete lifting and driveway leveling, addressing the accessible voids beneath the surface. By carefully injecting the expanding material beneath the affected slabs, we were able to raise the sunken sections and improve the transition between the driveway, asphalt, and garage entrance.

Once the concrete was lifted, we addressed the open joints and cracks with our Premium Crack and Joint Sealant to help limit moisture from getting beneath the driveway and protect the joints through seasonal weather and Ontario’s freeze-thaw cycles. Learn more about cracked concrete repair.

The Result

The uneven lips and tripping hazards along the driveway perimeter were significantly reduced, the harsh transition into the garage was smooth once again, and the exposed aggregate driveway had a much cleaner, more finished appearance.

The result was a leveled concrete driveway with treated cracks and joints, a smoother garage entrance, and additional protection against moisture getting beneath the surface.
