A homeowner in Mississauga, Ontario was dealing with a sunken stamped concrete side walkway and back patio, with trip hazards along the fence line and a drop-off below the rear sliding doors. Canadian Concrete Leveling used polyurethane injection to lift the settled stamped concrete, then sealed the cracks and joints to help keep moisture out through Ontario’s freeze-thaw cycles.
A homeowner in Mississauga was facing a frustrating and hazardous situation with their outdoor living space, as the property’s beautiful stamped concrete features had begun to settle. Over years of exposure to changing seasonal weather, shifting and eroding subgrade soils beneath the surface had caused major sections of both the winding side walkway and the main back patio to sink significantly, requiring stamped concrete leveling.
This uneven settlement created prominent trip hazards along the fence line, making the path unsafe for family and guests navigating the yard. Furthermore, a substantial drop-off developed right below the rear sliding glass doors, disrupting the smooth transition from indoor to outdoor hosting areas. Beyond the immediate safety risks, these sunken areas created low spots where rainwater could naturally pool against the home’s structure. Left unaddressed, continued water exposure could contribute to further erosion of the supporting soil beneath the concrete.
Our team stepped in with a precise approach to improve the safety, functionality, and curb appeal of the property—all without the massive expense, mess, and downtime of tearing out and replacing the decorative concrete.
To resolve the settlement issues, we utilized our high-density polyurethane stabilizing material to carefully lift and level the sunken stamped concrete sections. By injecting this premium material through strategic, micro-entry points, it expanded beneath the concrete to fill accessible voids and provide additional support below the slab. This allowed us to carefully lift the heavy stamped concrete sections and improve the uneven transitions, including the drop-off at the patio doors.
To protect the finished work, we then addressed the vulnerable cracks and joints with our Premium Crack and Joint Sealant. This flexible sealant helps limit moisture from getting beneath the concrete and protects the treated joints through seasonal weather and Ontario’s freeze-thaw cycles. The result was a smoother, safer transition along the walkway and patio, with the stamped concrete lifted and better supported without replacing the existing decorative concrete.
